In 1961, W. "Doc" Clabuesch founded Scenic Realty.  In 1962 he purchased the Sand Point branch office of the former Red Hat Realty.  Doc and his wife, Gertrude, operated the business in those early years.

In 1969 their son, Henry, was licensed as a salesperson while a student at Valparaiso University.  He sold real  estate while home summers and secured his broker's license in 1976.  In 1980, Henry earned charter membership in the Council of Residential Specialists and in 1986 earned the Certified Real Estate Brokerage Management designation, both from the National Association of Realtors.

Scenic Realty was a charter member of the Upper Thumb Board of Realtors, presently the Lapeer Upper Thumb Board.  All agents at Scenic Realty are also members of the Michigan Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.  Through membersbip in these organizations, the staff at Scenic Realty keeps abreast of industry trends and market conditions.
